This pattern may be used freely for donation quilts only. It may not be printed and sold.

This quilt pattern originally appeared on our website in May of 1997. We invited quilters to make quilts to donate to flood victims in Manitoba, Canada, and North Dakota, USA. It made an appearance again when quilters worldwide were moved to make quilts for the Kosovo refugees and after September 11th.

Once again there are people who need our thoughts & prayers. Our province is experiencing the worst forest fires in recorded history and many British Columbians have been evacuated and some have lost their homes. We encourage quilters to make this quilt once again to donate to our neighbours in need. The Salvation Army does a wonderful job when disaster strikes; they would welcome your donation. Also, please make a donation to your local Red Cross.

Although our directions use Red, White and Blue - we would suggest you use some of the colours that typify British Columbia - the blue of the sea and our many lakes and rivers, the green of our forests and fields, white for our snow-capped mountains. Kelowna is home to many vinyards so the colours of grapes would also be meaningful. You may also want to include yellow, as part of a growing program of wearing yellow in honour of our firefighters. Whatever your colour scheme, your quilts will be welcomed!

The measurement for this block will be 12" x 12" finished.
