Here are a sample of the projects included in our book "Quilted Havens".
Unlike many books, we don't concentrate on only one technique. You will find projects for every level of ability - from beginner to advanced. We show you how to use quick rotary cutting and quick piecing techniques, how to use templates, applique - both by machine and by hand, paper piecing - simple to complex. Instructions for twelve projects are included. Ideas to add realism to your house quilts and techniques for embellishment are also included to help you design your own quilt - using your house or a favourite building as inspiration.
| Hillbilly Hotel Fusible web and folk-style applique make this a quick and easy project, one that children could participate in.

Gnome Homes This is a village which any elf or sprite would be glad to call home. It's a perfect way to use up scraps and little bits and pieces for embellishment. Try some silk ribbon, beads and buttons to add the extra touches that personalize your "hobbit houses".
|
| Log Cabin Retreat Three peaceful log cabins near the shore of a lake are featured in this project. Fabric is textured for the trees and mountains before the blocks are foundation pieced, giving the quilt an extra dimension.

Our Home & Native Land Houses are not always made of wood or brick. In Canada's Far North, the traditional winter dwelling was an igloo made of blocks of ice and snow. We are proud of our Canadian heritage and invite you to create a remembrance of our northern lands.
|
| Victorian Manor This is a challenging piece which you will find to be worth the extra effort, make certain that you understand the basics of foundation piecing. There are many "house" fabrics which would be lovely - whatever you choose, this wall hanging will be center stage at home.

Donation Dwelling This quilt is designed to be made by a group - any gathering of individuals who have fabric, some basic quilting skills and a desire to help those less fortunate. The instructions are written like a three act play for six individuals - select members of your group to play the parts. Donate the quilt to a shelter, the Red Cross or even raffle it to make money for these type of organisations.
